Professional-strength Nitrous Oxide cryotherapy for stubborn verrucas that over-the-counter products simply cannot shift. Free consultation, treatments from £150.
Verrucas — also known as plantar warts — are small, rough growths found on the soles of the feet. They are caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is highly contagious and easily picked up in communal environments such as swimming pools, gym changing rooms and shared showers.
Unlike warts on other parts of the body, verrucas grow inward rather than outward. This happens because the weight and pressure of standing and walking pushes them beneath the surface of the skin. As a result, verrucas can feel tender or even painful when you walk — almost like standing on a small stone.
They often appear as flat, discoloured patches with tiny black dots in the centre. These dots are small blood vessels (thrombosed capillaries). Verrucas can be stubborn and persistent, sometimes lasting months or even years if left untreated. Pharmacy treatments such as salicylic acid often struggle to penetrate the thick plantar skin on the soles of the feet.
Verrucas are most common in children and teenagers, but adults can develop them too — especially those with weakened immune systems or people who spend time in environments where the virus thrives.
We use clinical-grade Nitrous Oxide (N₂O) delivered through a precision pen-like device to freeze verrucas at a much lower temperature than standard pharmacy treatments. This destroys the infected tissue at its root and triggers the body's immune response to fight the underlying HPV virus.
Because the plantar skin on the soles of the feet is significantly thicker than skin elsewhere on the body, verruca treatment typically requires several sessions spaced 2–3 weeks apart. This allows each layer of infected tissue to respond to treatment and the area to begin healing before the next application.
Each session is brief — the Nitrous Oxide is applied directly to the verruca for a few seconds. You may feel a cold sensation or slight sting, but most clients describe the discomfort as very manageable. No anaesthetic is needed.
After treatment, the area may blister or form a small scab. This is a normal part of the healing process. The dead tissue gradually lifts and separates, revealing healthy skin beneath. Stubborn or deep-rooted verrucas may need 2–4 sessions to fully resolve.
Every treatment begins with a free consultation where we assess the verruca, explain the process and answer any questions you might have — so you know exactly what to expect before we begin.

Most clients describe the sensation as a brief cold sting that lasts only a few seconds. The discomfort is very manageable and no anaesthetic is needed. The sole of the foot is a sensitive area, so you may feel slightly more than with treatments elsewhere on the body, but it passes quickly.
Because plantar skin is thicker, verrucas often require 2–4 sessions spaced 2–3 weeks apart. Small or recently developed verrucas may clear in fewer sessions, while larger or long-standing ones may need the full course. We'll give you an honest assessment at your free consultation.
Yes. Most clients can walk immediately after treatment and return to normal activities the same day. The treated area may feel tender for a day or two, similar to a mild bruise. We recommend wearing comfortable footwear and keeping the area clean and dry.
Over-the-counter verruca treatments such as salicylic acid patches and freeze sprays work at much higher temperatures and often cannot penetrate the thick skin on the soles of the feet. Professional Nitrous Oxide cryotherapy reaches significantly lower temperatures, enabling it to destroy the infected tissue more effectively and reach the root of the verruca.
There is no downtime — you can return to your daily routine immediately. The treated area may blister, darken, or form a small scab as part of the normal healing process. This typically resolves within 1–2 weeks. Scarring is very rare with cryotherapy, and most clients are left with smooth, healthy skin once healing is complete.
